Changing Beliefs - A 4-Day Training

This class is an intensive 4-day workshop created for people who have bought and READ the book, "Beliefs and How to Change Them." It is a "fast-track" training for learning a number of belief change processes, without requiring the full HABT(sm) certification.

However, this class is loaded with information! The book has 169 pages. Even 169 pages of text is not enough to teach you all there is about changing beliefs, because beliefs are much more complicated than anything you just read about in a book. You must see them "demonstrated" via behaviors like breathing changes, posture shifts, pupil changes, eye movements and the like during training. This allows you to learn the distinctions in behaviors that let you know individuals have made the cognitive shifts you wanted to produce when you used your techniques. Without non-verbal confirmation of a specific shift having happened, you do not take the next step in any of the exercises or processes that are described in the book.

The point is - this class teaches many concepts. It also teaches WHEN and HOW to utilize the step-by-step procedures that are shown in the book. By interacting with live human beings (with masks and social distancing required), you can learn all the necessary distinctions in observed non-verbal behavior. If you did not read the book and you arrive at the class attempting to learn:

  1. the concepts
  2. the distinctions
  3. and also their application

in four days, it is unlikely you will succeed. How do I know this? I have a Masters Degree in Education. I know the difference between knowing, understanding and DOING. I also have designed four "boot-camp" classes in computer programming that were bought by MIT for their graduate school. I know how to condense information. If you have not read the book, you will not be prepared for the class and will not obtain the benefits of this intensive training program.

As a professional Instructional Designer working in Fortune 50 corporate America, I discovered that people steal training material constantly worldwide. The way to make this difficult is to:

  1. Put the concepts in the books and manuals
  2. Teach the behavioral distinctions ONLY in the classroom presentation, which is not given to anybody outside the company,
  3. Demonstrate how to combine the distinctions and the concepts into the steps in the manuals only in the classroom via live demonstrations.

You cannot learn all about how to change beliefs in a 169-page book. Even in you add this 4-day training to the book, you are still getting a rapid overview on how to use the techniques.
